Enjoying our girl

After all those wonderful shower gifts it was time for Juliette to say thank you. Here she is in the process of making thank you cards. Even though she doesn't look very happy she was still greatful, I think!

Juliette's first time ice skating. She was looking around wondering where she was for the first half of the skate until she crashed out from the continuous circular motion. when she awoke in the last few moments she let us know she had enough. All in all a successful skate.

Going on walks and strolls in the park.
I thought it would be nice to capture some cute shots of her on her first Easter and all she gave me was attitude. I hope this isn't a sign of what we are in for.

We had an ornament made with Juliette's handprint which was nice and easy. The footprints on the other hand were a bit harder as she was wiggling around so much until mom soothed her with some milk. This did the trick and we were happy with the results of the shadowbox.

Hanging out in the cradle board that Grandma Mary Jane made. Darren and his sister Nadia used the same board when they were baby's. The snugness resembles being in the whomb and soothes them.

lots of love and kisses were had by all.

First visit with Atsua

Grandpa Joe had us over for dinner and here he got to meet his first grandchild. The Auntie's; Jesse and Jamie were there to meet their new niece as well.

Juliette was having fun trying to eat pinecones out in our yard.

A special moment

This would be the first time Juliette would meet her Great Grandma Ashby and Namesake. Here they are gazing into each others eyes knowing they have a special connection.

We really enjoyed our visit and couldn't believe how excited Grandma was to meet and show off her great grandughter to everyone passing by.

Baby showers

Juliette was very lucky to have 3 baby showers thrown for her. The first one in Beaver Creek, Yukon which my God daughter Teresa VanderMeer Chasse put on. We did all kinds of fun games including guess the size of the belly as Little Trudy Brown is demonstrating in this picture.

How did they know she would be a Canucks fan. As it turns out she loves watching hockey.

The second shower was in Merritt, B.C. Darren's sister Nadia organized it, and what a great success. Mary-Jane put on a raffle and Nadia had a bunch of creative games including a skill testing quiz. Austin and Haika played guitar and sang, and the kids put on some great skits. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera to capture these events.

The third shower was in Surrey, B.C. 23 days after Juliette was born. My sister Melissa hosted it, and it was great to fianlly get to show her off to family and friends. she stayed awake the whole time and let everyone pass her around without a care.

Here the 2 Grandma's, my sister, Juliette and I gather for a photo opportunity.

Juliette's first Christmas

We managed to have a baby and set up our house just in the nick of time for Christmas. The day we came home from the hospital was our first night in our new home. The water was the last thing that needed to be done and it was hooked up the next day.

On Juliette's first Christmas she was 1 week old. We gave her a crystal buggy tree ornament with baby's first Christmas 2007. She spent most of the day sleeping but she did wake up for a family picture.

Grandpa Ashby and Grandma Joan came up to Merritt to join us for a Christmas celebration.

Auntie Mel, Uncle Dave, cousins Justin and Dawson also came up to join us for the Holidays. Justin, Dawson and the guys went out in the bush to get our Christmas tree. Mel helped me give Juliette her first bath at home.

Oma and Grandpa Mark were delighted to meet their first Grandaughter. We were very happy to celebrate the holidays with our family.

Everyone came with arms full of presents to spoil Juliette for her Birthday and her first Christmas. Nadia and Andrej came over on Christmas Eve to make us a nice dinner and help decorate our tree along with Keneesha and Indy.

Life in my Belly

15 weeks at The Donjek River Yukon

I found out i was pregnant in Vancouver just a few days after returning from Pheonex. I thought i had air sickness but when it didn't go away days later i knew something was up. We were due to return to work in the Yukon a week later, This is where we spent the summer.

20 weeks on our Skagway/Juneau Alaska trip.

Thank goodness for Old Navy in Fairbanks. The Yukon doesn't offer much in the way of maternity clothes.

These last 2 were 33 weeks in Vancouver.

After work was done in the fall we returned down South where both of our family lives. Darren was busy setting up our new place in Merritt while I was visiting family in Vancouver. 2 weeks before the due date we rented a motel close to the hospital in Kamloops.

I was 8 days overdue and feeling it. We were out for dinner at The Keg with Darren's dad when my contractions finally started. Juliette was born the following night.
